Still improving; it's all good news!

Today, Linda sat up in bed to have a delightfully long visit with at least 4 visitors at once. She is so happy to be able to see her friends. She's enjoying the fact that there is enough space to seat at least 4 + 1 sitting on the edge of her bed. She can't turn her neck so it's important to stand or sit in her line of sight. I read her today's cards and emails that she's received at the hospital. It may take weeks for her to catch up with all the sweet cards, phone messages, emails, and blog comments that have been flooding in since her accident. How blessed she is to have so many loving friends!

The skin graft dressing was changed today, and looks very healthy and taking well.

She's glad they've bathed her every day. She is often too warm and using a fan. The temperature cannot easily be adjusted to suit her and with the cold spell the hospital has already switched to heating from air conditioning.

Right now, someone from orthopedics is removing her splint and cast from the right arm and after they check on her wrist I believe she'll be allowed a bit more freedom in the use of her arm and fingers. That will make a big difference in her sense of confinement and limited mobility, but of course she'll need to be even more careful not to put stress on the wrist before it fully heals.

Many have asked how soon she'll be able to come home, but this can't be determined yet. We expect to know around Monday whether the skin graft is successfully growing and then she'll need enough occupational and/or physical therapy to be able to function at home. It may be a while before she can negotiate the many stairs at home.

To my precious Linda,
I am thinking of you constantly and praying for recovery as quickly as possible. I am so grateful for your progress and read the blog several times a day. I want to be there so much and can't stand being this far away. I love you dearly and praise God for giving us all the blessing of having you for a friend. Lots of hugs and kisses to you, Linda. Thank you, everyone, for taking such good care of our Linda.

GM, you said exactly what I've been feeling. I am so glad Linda is making good progress and will get outta the hospital and back to normal (?) soon.

Linda & John: I love you both dearly. You've been in my thoughts and prayers for the past 2 weeks, since Glenn Block alerted me to what happened.

I am sending you tons of hugs and warm wishes for a full recovery to your sweet and energetic self. You've been a loving friend to me and I only wish I could be there in person for you now. (Beam me up, Scottie!)

My love to Mindy, Diane, John, and everyone who has been seeing Linda and looking after things for her, and to Casey who patiently waits for "Mama's" return home.

Blessings & Light,

I was waaaaay too early to be visiting today, dear Linda! Please forgive me! I had been seeing another member who had surgery about 6 am, so when I got to your room about 7... that was still early! But, I promised you I'd look up Nehemiah 8, cause you had "rebuilding" on your mind, and that's what God put on Ezra and Nehemiah's mind too! I know God is in the process of rebuilding YOU too. Isn't it great to hear those comforting scriptures like we read this morning... Isaiah 40 "God will raise you up on eagles wings!" And, to all your blogger buddies--it is an absolute JOY just to know this amazing and inspiring Linday Fordyce!

If Linda is still feeling hot, bring in a small room fan to blow on her. The Hosp. charge nurse is likely to approve that. Just a thought, as I've been there before with a loved one.

I love you, Linda! Feel better today!

Hugs,
Linda

Hello Linda,
I'm glad to hear such good news about your progress. I can't wait to come visit you and see for myself. I would have come sooner but I had a really bad color for almost a week. I didn't want to risk passing anything on to you. You are such a fighter! Everyone is so proud or you. Everytime I sit down to read your blog Gwyneth sits down beside me and reads along with me.

I love you!!!

Mindy, Glad you made it home safe. You and Diane have done such an amazing job keeping everyone updated on your Mom's progress. Thank you!! I'd like to come visit this weekend maybe bring you some lunch. Let me know!!
