The MRI shows that her neck is actually not fractured but that the ligaments are just strained. They will continue to keep her neck immobilzed with a brace though.
For now they are changing the dressing on her left arm every shift and have not discussed any surgery yet for the reconstruction. Diane says it is still bleeding some but not very much.
John finally went home about noon today and we hope he will take a nap in his own bed but know that he will hurry back. He feels he needs to be there in case anything happens.

visiting
Visiting hours are 9 -12am, 2-6pm, and 8-10pm. Mom can be seen but is heavily sedated and on a respirator so cannot communicate. The nurses and doctor are waking her regularly to check her responses so we try not to in between. She needs rest and to not be distressed.
John is living in the waiting room at UAMS, 4th floor. You can visit wth him anytime during the day and he is in very good spirits and health. He is an amazing chair sleeper! They have good food in the cafeteria and thanks to Mom's Sunday school group, we have food at the house too.

Sat morning
This morning we are still waiting on results from her MRI but we have learned that they believe her lungs to be in good enough condition to begin weening her from the respirator. They will do a little at a time to test her.
Unfortunately, what we thought was a fracture to her right arm turns out to be more of a shattered wrist. A surgery to reconstruct it is tentative for Monday.
Thanks again to everyone for your loving calls and offering so much to help.

Casey is eating but misses his momma
For those who know Casey you also know how attached he is to Mom. He usually doesn't eat much while she is away but I am staying at the house with him and trying to love him and talk to him like she does and i think he knows that i am family because he happily ate his dinner last night and then curled up in bed with me and the kitty kats when i went to bed.
He does keep looking for her to appear in the doorway.

MRI scheduled for today
Todays update includes good news that Linda is off her Blood Pressure medication and is scheduled to have an MRI sometime today (Friday).
Her stomach is still very swollen and hard, most likely from the internal bleeding.
Please continue to pray for her and also for John who will not leave the hospital ICU waiting area.
thanks,
leslie

What happened and how she is
Mom was riding her scooter home from the Hostel office on Wed afternoon and somehow lost control on Kavanaugh blvd. She slid on her left arm, apparently, into the oncoming lane where a pickup truck saw her and swerved, hitting parked cars to move away, but she went under his rear tire.
Her left arm was seriously wounded and she lost a lot of blood at the scene. She recieved 6 pints in the ER. The truck tire crossed her right arm and chest shattering her wrist and breaking or dislocating many ribs. She was wearing a helmet and has no brain injury but they said her heart, which is functioning well and stable, may be bruised from the impact.
The CT scan and X-ray showed a slight frature to her C1 vertebrate so they have secured her neck and are watching for swelling. Her nervous system checks out good. She responds and wiggles her toes.
She has air and fluid leakage from her lungs but it has improved.
They are continuing to monitor her vitals, check for bleeding, give her fluids, and she remains on a respirator and heavily sedated. She will be in ICU at LR UAMS (4th floor) for a week or more.
We tell her we are there and love her and she knows that many many friends are praying for her. She has more friends than anyone and is so loved.
Please continue to pray for her and know that everything that can be done is being done at this time. John is at the hospital with her all the time. Dean is in town and Diane is at the house. Both are with her as much as can be. Leslie and Mindy are both flights away but are getting regular updates.
Thank you for wanting to help and for your outpouring of love and prayers. I will try to post any new develpments here, good or bad.
Please leave your comments and well wishes here. It will be nice to have a record of well wishes.
Thank you,
